The Swiss-based geospatial machine learning company has joined a community of more than 60 members, patrons, and advisory partners representing the entire value chain of the geospatial ecosystem. The WGIC endeavors to:

  1. Enhance the role of the geospatial industry and strengthen its contribution to the global economy and society.
  2. Facilitate the exchange of knowledge within the geospatial industry and co-creation of larger business opportunities for the geospatial industry.
  3. Represent business interests, share perspectives of the geospatial industry and undertake policy advocacy and dialogue with public authorities, multilateral agencies, and other relevant bodies.

“We are delighted to have joined the World Geospatial Industry Council,” said Pierrick Poulenas, CEO & Co-Founder, Picterra. “Our vision is that in the next decade, every company in the world will be a geospatial-driven business, and in order for that to happen there is a need for greater collaboration within the industry to work on global solutions for the world’s most critical problems. We know there’s a wealth of experience among WGIC members that we can benefit from – and contribute to. Our Chief Growth Officer Pascal van Dalen is looking forward to attend our first WGIC board meeting during Geo Week 2023”.

The WGIC believes in the long-term benefits of geospatial technology adoption to drive positive change. In Picterra, they see a company that shares that vision.

“With many similarities in our visions, including the common belief in the importance of the role of geospatial-driven tech, and the need for collaboration to provide solutions to global challenges, we are really happy to have Picterra as a WGIC Member. As a leading provider of geospatial ML software, Picterra provides a collaborative platform within the geospatial ecosystem – an essential element for extending the sector’s impact in tackling global challenges. For us, this is a big step forward to helping solve some of the greatest challenges facing the Earth,” said Barbara Ryan, WGIC Executive Director.
